Your wedding day begins long before the ceremony. Hair and makeup happen around the kitchen table in the morning light, dresses hang from door frames, and there’s champagne on the back deck before everyone heads off. Yes, The Ridge House does I do’s!

For up to 20 people, exchange vows on the back deck or the grass behind the house, looking out over the valley. If the weather turns, the main living room, with its original timber ceiling and wood fire, holds an indoor ceremony for 20. Loggers Lookout, down the stairs from the back deck, is made for photographs, with the valley stretching towards Mount Baw Baw.

There’s no function room, no in-house band, and no locked-in vendor list or minimum spend. Bring the celebrant, florist, photographer and caterer you love, with trusted local recommendations if you need them. It isn’t a wedding venue, and that’s the point.

Stay On as Newlyweds

The Ridge House books for two as easily as eight, so a quiet mini-moon after the wedding is easy. Some couples barely leave the property. Others head out to Gippsland’s mountain ash forests, waterfalls, wineries and long lunches, then come home to watch the last light settle across the valley.

Dogs Welcome

Your dog is family, so they’re welcome at the wedding too, up to two, at no extra fee. There’s no perimeter fencing and dogs go on a lead on the bush trails, though the open grass around the house leaves plenty of room to run.
