LOVE STORIES SHARED WITH
HONESTY, BEAUTY & HEART
Leah S Designs

It’s beautiful to connect with Leah from Leah S Designs. Finding your wedding dress is about so much more than saying yes to the gown – it’s about finding a bridal boutique where you feel comfortable, understood and genuinely excited for the journey ahead.

At Leah S Designs, brides are welcomed with warmth, honesty and over two decades of experience creating beautiful gowns that celebrate every love story. From humble beginnings in a barn in Pakenham to becoming a trusted name for brides across Gippsland and Victoria, Leah has built her business on kindness, authenticity and making every bride feel like the very best version of herself.

We recently sat down with Leah and asked her some incredible questions about her journey, what inspires her designs, what makes the Leah S Designs experience so unique, and why creating a relaxed, pressure-free environment has always been at the heart of everything she does. Her answers are thoughtful, heartfelt – and, as you’ll discover, sprinkled with the wonderful sense of humour that brides have come to know and love.

1. How did Leah S Designs begin, and what inspired you to step into bridal fashion?

I started Leah S Designs back in 2003, and honestly, it still feels surreal saying that out loud. I probably thought I’d be more ‘settled’ by now, but here I am – still just as passionate and still working just as hard.

It all began in a small barn in my parents’ front yard in Pakenham. I didn’t have a grand business plan or industry roadmap – I simply loved making dresses. Back then, bridal fashion felt simpler, trends didn’t shift at lightning speed, and social media wasn’t dictating every detail of a wedding.

I’ll never forget the first dress I ever sold. It was a debutante gown, and I was genuinely shocked that someone chose something I had created. Then came my first wedding dress, which was such a defining and emotional moment for me.

From the very beginning, my goal was simple: create beautiful, affordable gowns and offer an experience that felt genuinely enjoyable – nothing intimidating, nothing snobby, just real.

I had my own uncomfortable experience wedding dress shopping when I was younger, and I remember thinking, ‘This should feel exciting, not overwhelming.’ That feeling has stayed with me ever since and continues to shape everything we do at Leah S Designs today.

2. When a bride walks into your boutique, what is the one feeling you hope she leaves with?

I want every bride to feel completely at ease the moment she walks through the door – relaxed, welcomed, and open to enjoying the experience.

Wedding dress shopping can feel overwhelming, so I always encourage brides to come in with an open mind. Do a little research beforehand, save some styles you love, even scroll Pinterest if you want – but most importantly, trust the process when you’re here.

We’re also very transparent with pricing. Everything is clearly listed on our website so there are no surprises or awkward moments during appointments. I want brides to feel informed, comfortable, and free to simply enjoy finding their dress.

3. If you had to describe the Leah S Designs experience in just a few words, what would they be?

Dream big. Make it happen.

(Okay… technically that’s five words, but I’ve never been very good at following rules anyway.)

4. What sets Leah S Designs apart from other bridal boutiques in Victoria?

I think what makes us different is that we keep things real.

There’s no pressure, no pretence, and no expectation for brides to be anything other than themselves. We’re here to listen, guide, and offer honest advice in a kind and supportive way.

We also design many of our gowns in-house, which means they’re truly unique to our boutique. I still create the patterns myself, and I design them with real bodies in mind – focusing on shaping, support, and comfort. The structure is intentional, with boning and internal design details that help gowns sit beautifully, lift in the right places, and flatter naturally.

We also offer in-house alterations which means we understand how each gown can be refined and adjusted to suit each bride perfectly. Sometimes it’s those small adjustments that transform a dress into the dress.

5. What core values guide the way you support and serve your brides?

Kindness, honesty, and helping brides step confidently into their next chapter.

Every bride deserves to feel respected, supported, and completely comfortable throughout the process. There should never be pressure, judgement, or any sense that their body is the problem.

It’s about creating a space where brides feel safe, seen, and genuinely cared for.

6. How would you describe your ‘dream bride’ and what she’s searching for in her wedding dress journey?

My dream bride isn’t defined by size, age, or style.

She’s someone who wants to feel like herself on her wedding day- beautiful, comfortable, and confident in her own skin.

She might walk in excited, nervous, overwhelmed, or completely unsure where to start – and all of that is perfectly okay. In fact, it’s completely normal.

What matters most is that she feels safe, supported, and free to explore what truly feels right for her.

7. Looking ahead five years, what do you hope Leah S Designs will be known for?

In five years, I hope Leah S Designs continues to be known as a place where brides feel genuinely cared for, where the experience is just as special as the gown itself, and where honesty and kindness are always at the centre of everything we do.

And beyond that… I do have a slightly less conventional vision.

I like to imagine a future Leah S Designs Moon Boutique, run by very friendly (and surprisingly skilled) alien stylists who specialise in lace-up backs and dramatic train management. We’d cater not just to brides, but moon brides, space princesses, Wookiee flower girls, and anyone celebrating love across the galaxy.

And personally? I’d like to be wearing a different wedding dress every day. No more activewear. Just full-time bridal gowns – because by then, I’m fairly sure society will have accepted that a wedding dress is appropriate for absolutely any occasion.

(Thank you for sticking with me to the end of that one… I appreciate you.)
