real wedding

sam & chris

the love story

Like many modern couples, they met on a dating platform and Samantha initiated conversation with Christopher.

They interacted every day and after a few days they decided to meet in person and went on their first date. Sam and Chris were both physically and emotionally attracted to one another and continued to talk regularly.

Three days after their first date, Chris invited Sam to his going away party as he was heading to Kenya to do some volunteer teaching. When Chris travelled to Africa, they continued to speak almost every day.

The second date was funny.

Chris returned home from Africa three weeks later and on the Saturday, they went to the drive-in movies. 10 minutes into the movie, Jet lag got the better of Chris and he nodded off… Sam has loved him ever since!

the engagement

Sam and Chris had bought their first home together and were beginning to build a life together. They had all their family and friends over for a housewarming party on a Sunday afternoon.

Chris began to thank everyone for coming to the party. Towards the end of his speech, Chris pulled a box from his pocket, got down on one knee and asked Sam to marry him.

She said “yes” of course! They celebrated at their new home all evening with their closest family and friends.

the wedding gown

Sam liked the stretchy crepe material of the dress, the cut-out style incorporating lace down the sides and the high classic neckline. When trying dresses on, Sam knew it was ‘the one’.

Simply because when she put the dress on, she didn’t want to take it off!

Custom alteration and designs were made to the back of Sam’s dress. This was to incorporate more lace, sleeves, and a longer train.

The one-of-a-kind dress turned out stunningly beautiful and everything Sam could have wanted for her perfect day. The ladies at top shelf design made Sam’s dream dress come to life.

the venue

The venue was Sam’s parent’s property in Langwarrin.

They always had the family property as the dream venue in the back of their minds. Although getting married there may be too much trouble. Sam’s parents worked very hard to get the dream property wedding ready!

A lot of the wedding was custom DIY. Sam’s parents built the Bar tables, Arbour, and signs all by hand along with the Bar itself being built completely from recycled materials.

The weather was amazing on Sam and Chris’s Wedding Day – 23rd November 2019.

Chris had breakfast with his dad, brother, Sam’s dad, and brother along with his best mates. This was so special, and it certainly had a significant memorable vibe to it.

Chris was present in the moment of getting ready with the boys by his side preparing for the ceremony. Seeing Sam walk down the aisle had emotions flowing and is a moment in time Chris will never forget.

Sam remembers walking down the aisle and the moment hitting her that they were getting married! She also commented on how handsome Chris was and how beautiful everything turned out.

Sam and Chris decided to have the celebrant, Ebony, surprise them with what she was going to say at the ceremony! Everything throughout the ceremony was so genuine hearing it all for the first time on the day making it so perfect and special.

Although everything was running according to plan unfortunately Hailey their photographer stepped on a Bull ants’ nest in the Langwarrin Flora and Fauna Park where they were taking photos. To Hailey’s credit, she powered through.

The photos captured are a representation of the perfect Wedding Day and the happy couple are so grateful to have these moments!

Speeches and dances were a very special part of the evening too. Dancing alongside their parents is a special moment Sam and Chris hold close and they will never forget their first dance together as a new married couple.

our vendors

Most of the wedding was hands on DIY so an amazing surprise for Sam was seeing the bouquets. Amber from woops a daisy put Sam’s dream ideas together in a breathtaking bouquet, which perfectly matched the boutonnieres that Sam had made herself.

They also thoroughly enjoyed looking at the photos from One Spoon Two Spoon Photography and the video from Rachel Mary Films after the wedding.

Sam and Chris loved how the vendors captured the attention to detail of the big day and thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone’s hard work and reminiscing on a captured moment in time.

according to plan

The happy couple maintained a sense of calm, everything went relatively smoothly in the lead up and on the day.

Although…The week of the wedding, Chris managed to accidentally shave off half his eyebrow! Sam taught Chris how to use an eyebrow pencil and he carried it everywhere with him on the day.

one piece of advice

In any relationship, whether it’s a best mate, brother, sister cousin or work colleague is built on trust, empathy, and compromise. Listen to each other and be a team. Be sensitive to how each other feel and don’t let small things cloud the things that matter. Sometimes you’ll have to be the 90% to your partners 10%. Sometimes vice versa. Listen to each other and compromise.
