‘Winter, a lingering season, is a time to gather golden moments, embark upon a sentimental journey, and enjoy every idle hour.’ – John Boswell

Winter is a time, that you know you are alive and your heart is warming. This stunning season is a time for stopping, stilling yourself, a moment of recovery and preparation and the coming pliantly back to life again as this beautiful season changes once again. All our never ending cycles and seasons are gifts from the universe and during these times we must choose what we will contribute to life when each new season arrives.

A Winter Wedding embraces a beautiful sense of elegance, sophistication and romance and the blank canvas of Winter brings a stunning backdrop of imagination and choice. So many more couples are planning Winter weddings and with the richness of Winter, anything is possible as you plan your Wedding day.

We have included some great tips that you can think about as you plan your day: Select your perfect Winter venue / Embrace the weather / Wear long sleeves / Do a bold lip / Wear a faux fur or wrap / Showcase seasonal blooms / Serve hot chocolates / Decorate the fireplace / Hang festoon lights everywhere / Have a Champagne tower / Provide blankets for your guests / And / Enjoy this soul-full time to create your Wedding Day.

Today, we launch our Winter. Wedding Showcase with you all, bringing to you the awareness of Winter through a group of selected Gippsland Wedding Vendors as detailed beautifully below.

The beauty about a winter wedding is simple: less pressure for the ‘perfect weather day’, instead more cosy hugs with your partner. YAY. A sunny, yet crisp day in June or July, can be so so beautiful. As the sun sits lower your photographer can take photos in one of the many photo locations in the gardens which can be too hot & sunny in summer, but now no one is sweaty or squinting and you get that one perfect and unique shot of the two of you.

Another good point is, that it is so much easier to get a cool date in (as a month only has so many weekends) and also all your favourite wedding vendors, as they are usually more available during winter month. And you can eat the food which would be too ‘heavy’ in summer, but now everyone can enjoy it.

We also offer our winter couples 20% discount on the venue hire, that money can be put towards some amazing flowers, glam hire items or that dream dress. Oh la la. And in the end, it doesn’t matter what the weather or temperature is when you are surrounded by loved ones, watching you getting married to your soulmate. Imagery by Samantha Elizabeth Photography

With winter upon us, we are seeing a beautiful selection of winter blooms become available. Currently, there is a trend in dreamy bouquets with beautiful pastel tones of latte, blush and toffee colours with an emphasis on textural elements such as seed pods, succulents and dried spears.

The cooler weather brings so many gorgeous flowers including frilled tulips, scented hyacinths, freesias and more.

For the Brides who wish to think outside the box, we are seeing an increase in the moody purples, deep reds and rich earthy tones in which winter provides some epic blooms to match this colour palette. Imagery by Light and Type

Planning a Winter Wedding can be a beautiful time of the year, especially here in Gippsland. Brides are choosing a Wedding gown that brings a sense of romance, elegance and sophistication.

Gowns with full skirts and long sleeves are a popular style selection for their beauty and warmth. These particular silhouettes help take the chill out of the air for brides on their special day.

Brides are also adding layers either with a bolero, a luxurious fur or wrap ensuring that brides are warm as evening falls.

With Winter weddings commencing, we see some slight changes in bridal makeup. Alternative colours and products are a few areas in which a bride may adapt their makeup to suit their Winter wedding.

As the cooler months approach, our skin starts to become thirstier which may give the look and feel of a drier complexion. It is important when preparing for your big day that you nurture your skin and keep it hydrated with a good quality moisturiser. This will ensure that the skin stays nice and plump to create a flawless base for your makeup. The use of cream products for contouring, highlighting and as a blusher will also enhance hydration and entice a more glowy finish, if the skin is looking a little dry.

Using cooler tones over the eyes, cheeks and lips will appear more fitting to the season and its surroundings. Primarily blue based products will assist in matching the Winter light. Consider a more colourful punch to your makeup. A subtle grey smokey eye or a deep red lip can look particularly gorgeous against a white gown and wintery backdrop in photos. Plus, bolder colours tend to have longer lasting pigment that won’t wear off quite as easily as neutrals. Always ensure you are using waterproof formulas on your special day, particularly in the rainier months. We can only prepare for so much in life, however with a few tips and tricks you can bet that your winter wedding makeup is as glamorous and long lasting than ever before!
